Nick Griffin the leader of the BNP today told the BBC that people coming on boats from Africa should be sunk and given life rafts (very kind of him) he claims we have too many "foreigners" in this country and while i agree that immigration in this open door country is appalling and needs serious reform his comments sum up the reason why people think he is a shifty knuckle dragging idiot who spouts utter vile and prays on peoples fears and weaknesses. But i want people to put things into context why the BNP are insignificant yes they did get 2 MEP's at the last euros but they mean nothing in the context of voting in the European parliament to be quite frank they don't really have any real voice so while their members who a lot of them are from "foreign" back grounds (but they're not really foreign as they're white)"that was a statement from a BNP member to myself recently" keep thinking they're the only party of the people the vast majority of the general public disagree as voting numbers prove this but i must say that The BNP are one of the few things that makes me genuinely proud to be British; and I'm deadly serious about it. They're a ludicrous, village-idiot, joke of a party who are openly mocked and despised by 99.9% of the country. They have the support of a couple of thousand knuckle-draggers in a country with a population of 60 million people.Go compare that with other Western European countries, like France, Spain, Germany.. etc, where extreme right-wing political parties are receiving upwards of 30% of the popular vote, and are truly threatening to take power in the next decade. UK gets a battering for being racist, yet we've come a million times further than other supposedly more enlightened nations.... are a complete joke, and i salute them.. with two fingers.

A Cautionary Tale

Once upon a time a man appeared in a village and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for £10 each.
The villagers, seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started catching them.
The man bought thousands at £10 and, as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort.
He next announced that he would now buy monkeys at £20 each.
This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again.
Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms.
The offer increased to £25 each and the supply of monkeys became so scarce it was an effort to
even find a monkey, let alone catch it!
The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at £50 each!
However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would buy on his behalf.

In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers:" Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has already collected.
I will sell them to you at £35 and when the man returns from the city, you can sell them
to him for £50 each."
The villagers rounded up all their savings and bought all the monkeys for £700 billion.
They never saw the man or his assistant again, only lots and lots of monkeys!

Now you have a better understanding of how Gordon Brown's BAILOUT PLAN WILL WORK !!!!It doesn't get much clearer than this.................

Send This Lot A Message - Vote Conservative

Tomorrow the good people of Newton get the chance to send a message to the Labour Party, by telling them they have FAILED.

These people on the propaganda site Labour4Newton, are already thinking it's in the bag, but are they?

Three Mp's have been on this campaign. Yes three Mp's, for a Council by-election .

This is unheard of, i get the feeling they are very worried, that they will lose this.

No matter what they tell you, about how they are going to "walk it" don't believe a single word what comes out of their mouths, they can not be trusted.

Recently Community boards were put up, and money was found for local Scouting Groups, all this in the run up to a by-election.

But i am sure it's just a coincidence, that it has just happened in the lead up, and it was going to happen anyway?

If you want to send a message to this morally corrupt party, then Vote Conservative.

Only the Conservatives can make a difference on Tameside Council.

If you vote BNP, Green, Lib Dem or even UKIP then you will return a Labour CLLR is that really what you want?

Residents Close Door to Constant Failiure

On the election trail in Newton this weekend, we saw all the main players out and about.
But what is really surprising to me, is the amount of people who had voted for Labour in the past, saying they were going to vote for us, as the Conservatives are THE ONLY alternative and feel voting for a minority party would see them waste their vote.
For the first time in a long time the Conservatives are breathing down the necks of Labour in places like Newton, a place where Labour have taken for granted in the past, and apart from a few pre election "bribes" have let residents down.
Now as i were delivering John welsh's excellent leaflet to the masses, it came to a point where Labour were doing the same road in the opposite direction.
As i were approaching this house, the gentleman from Labour was walking down the path at the same time.
It wasn't quite road runner and the coyote, but i was putting our leaflet through the letter box the Labour representative had rung the door bell, and this gentleman came to the door.
I handed him my leaflet, and said "Newton Conservatives here, here's our leaflet sir" i was politely thanked, and as i walked away, the Labour Representative spoke and said "Hello i am from the Labour Party can we count on your support" and this gentleman's response were to him, was to shut the door in his face.
Now although this being very funny to me, it reminded me no matter how much Labour go on about how fantastic they are doing, and how they are going to do this, and that, that shutting of the door was a nice reminder that there are a lot of people out there who have had enough of their lies, and smugness.
With a general election expected in 2010, it gives me great hope, that we will over turn this shambles of a Government.

Over the past couple of months the British Economy has been let me put it politely, on it's knees. With the Pound getting very close to the Euro, and UN Employment at it's highest for 12 years.
The Labour Party have re invented something, and to be fair to them it's genius.

They have managed to not use a word, which they like to associate with the Tories.

And they have come up with something, which they have probably copyrighted.
If you haven't guessed it yet, it's the CREDIT CRUNCH.
I hate it with a passion, in the 80's and early 90's, Labour blamed everything on the RECESSION.
And how everything which went wrong in life, was the nasty Tories fault.

In 1997 New Labour came into power, they inherited a fine set of books from John Major, who is very much under estimated as a leader in my opinion.
And all of a sudden everything what went right with the economy, was all down to Blair and Brown,
You must not forget Brown said under his watch "it would be the end to boom and bust"
There was no mention of the previous administration and how well they left things, well they wouldn't would they.
The fact was the worlds economy was on the up, and things were pretty good. People never had so much money in their back pockets, which in turn encouraged people to lend from the banks.
As House prices went through the roof, and people got into more and more debt, by taking out silly mortgages like 110% of the property, shocking really.
But everything was Rosy in the eyes of Labour, and it was all down to them,or so they told us.
Now today people are in hell of a lot of debt, the banks don't even lend to themselves.
But if you ask the Government it's not their fault, it's other peoples.
They will just smarmingly tell you it's the "CREDIT CRUNCH" and by using these words, they are trying to convince people that we are not in a RECESSION.
And as long as they can convince retailers, and the press to use this catchy slogan then it will become part of everybodys vocab, then everything will be OK.
They tell you, you must tighten your belt.
And to help you out we will put up Council Tax, yeah great help.
But don't worry.... they have even more to dictate to you over, whether it's how much red meat you can eat in a week, or how much sugar is in drinks, what form of transport you are allowed to go on, all for environmental reason of course.
Though it seams the Government manage to find even more money to bale the banks out, or as it should be called RE NATIONALISATION.
Let me put it simple, people shouldn't trust Gordon Brown anymore. Apparently his latest plan is to invest £200 billion of taxpayers money in the "cash strapped" banks. Which means that people are taxed more, don't have any money to save, have no money to put into their bank accounts, which will leave the banks strapped for cash, which will require a bailout from the taxpayer.....
I just hope people realise that at the next General Election, that's if Labour haven't outlawed elections by then.
They kick these crooks out, and return a Conservative administration who historically have followed and fixed every single bankrupt Labour administration.

Vote John Welsh for Hyde Newton

Well it's election time again, this time under unfortunate circumstances through the passing of Labour CLLR Margaret Oldham.

I always found Margaret to be courteous, though i don't agree with her Party, i can respect the fact she worked for the people she was lucky to represent.

Having been hitting the streets for the past week or so every night.

I can say we're getting some great responses from people we're meeting.A lot of people are sick and tired hearing how wonderful this Council and the Labour Party are rammed down their throats.

If it's not the propaganda page.... sorry the letters page in the Advertiser, or the disgraceful Tameside Citizen, each tax payer pays for, telling us how lucky we are to have the likes of Roy Oldham at the helm, they can switch the TV on and see on a daily basis that the Labour government are bailing Banks out and wasting money left right and centre.

What the Labour Party are not telling you is, that Tameside Council will be putting up Council Tax AGAIN by in the region of 3%, great just what we need in a recession, or is that the Credit Crunch as it's been repackaged.

Maybe they can waste more money on street statues? or bronze plaques? just what we need.

Instead of wasting money, and by God does this Council waste money they could look at not increasing Council Tax? or even reducing it.

Maybe that will help struggling families in this current climate?

Getting back to the Election, our Candidate is John Welsh.

Now having been working with John on his election, I have got the impression that he is a quality candidate, not only is he a strong Family man, but he is passionate about Newton.

The area he grew up, and getting elected is about him being a strong and alternative voice for the people of Newton, and not a cash cow like some other candidates view it as.

It's so refreshing to hear someone with a similar passion for what he does.

Now i know Labour are worried, and they should be.

But having two local Mp's working on a Council campaign, is unheard of.

And if Labour wasn't doing so badly nationally, then you wouldn't have seen them.

I am quite surprised James "I am not an MP I am a Cabinet minister" Purnell knew where Newton was, maybe it could be another place for him to lose his wallet?

But Mr Purnell doesn't have to be there, to be featured in a picture does he?.

Between the top three Parties there is only a couple of hundred votes between them, so it could be any ones.

Don't forget last Mays election the Conservatives pulled nearly 1000 more votes than Labour, across Hyde and Stalybridge.

This is a massive wake up call to them, and what have they done since? absolutely nothing!

But i want to stress, that if you want to send a real message to this morally corrupt Labour Party? then a vote for the Conservatives is the only vote.

A vote for any other party, and you will be electing a Labour CLLR.

It is as simple as that, no other party can make an impact on Tameside Council but the Conservatives.

So with your ballot paper Vote John Welsh, Vote Conservative.

Green Gate - Heads Will Roll

House of Commons Speaker Michael Martin has said he "regrets" that police were allowed to search Tory MP Damian Green's office without a warrant.
He told MPs that a parliamentary official had allowed a raid by signing a consent form.
Mr Martin said he had known in advance about the raid and Mr Green's arrest, but he had not been told the police did not have a search warrant.
He has referred the issue of seizure of material to a committee of senior MPs.
'Bad day for democracy'
Mr Martin also promised that, in future, a warrant would be required before searches were carried out on Commons property.
"Every case must be referred for my personal decision, as it is my responsibility," he added.
Mr Green, shadow immigration minister, was arrested and held for nine hours last Thursday as part of a police inquiry into Home Office leaks.
Many MPs have expressed outrage, saying that the independence of MPs has been compromised.
Raising a point of order, Mr Green told the Commons it would be a "bad day for democracy in this country" if MPs could not exposed information that ministers preferred to keep hidden.

Mr Green added: "Those who have the real power in this country - ministers, senior civil servants and the police - are also not beyond the law and beyond scrutiny.
"An MP endangering national security would be a disgrace. An MP exposing embarrassing facts about Home Office policy which ministers are hiding is doing a job in the public interest."
The MP for Ashford was arrested and held for nine hours last Thursday - on suspicion of conspiring to commit misconduct in public office and on suspicion of aiding and abetting misconduct in public office - while all his homes and offices were searched.
Mr Green denies any wrongdoing.

In his statement, the Speaker said the Metropolitan Police had told the Serjeant at Arms, Jill Pay, last Wednesday that they were contemplating arresting an MP but had not given their identity.
Mr Martin said Ms Pay had told him in the strictest confidence that an MP might be held and charged but no further details had been given.
At 7am on Thursday, the police called Ms Pay again and explained the background to the case and named Mr Green as the MP in question.
She then informed the Speaker of this and that a search might take place of his Commons office.
Mr Green was arrested in the afternoon, when the raids were carried out.
But Mr Martin said: "I was not told that the police did not have a warrant [for the Commons search]."
'Not asked'
He added that the police did not explain, as they should have done, that the serjeant at arms was not obliged to consent to the search - or that a warrant should have been insisted upon.
"I regret that a consent form was then signed by the serjeant at arms without consulting the clerk of the House," Mr Martin said.
"I must make it clear to the House that I was not asked the question of whether consent should be given or whether a warrant should have been insisted on," he said.
Home Secretary Jacqui Smith has said she had no prior knowledge of Mr Green's arrest.
She, and Prime Minister Gordon Brown, have said it would be improper for ministers to become involved in police investigations.
In the Commons, Conservative leader David Cameron said: "It's no good for the prime minister to hide behind 'I was only supporting the independence of the police'.
"People want to know whether our democracy, our right to know and our right to expose are safe with this prime minister."
Former Conservative leader Michael Howard said MPs on all sides felt "outrage" at the arrest of Mr Green.

1. That he never knew the Police didn`t have a warrant or that they needed a warrant to search an MP`s office.

2. That he alone knew in advance that the MP in question was about to be arrested!

Does he really believe the British people are that stupid, after the torrents of lies told by this government, does he or the new labour government think that this will be laid to rest?

Congestion Charge! I Will Be Voting No

The congestion charge referendum is vastly approaching us, and i've read a lot of publicity in the media for the "Yes Campaign" But they don't really go on about who will pay, they can't even tell you where the final boundaries will be, but they will want you to say yes.

Looking into it further, if everyone used the public transport and left their car at home, how on earth will the expansion be paid for?I asked this question at a congestion charge debate in manchester, and was told by the yes campaign (Labour Party) that they would look at expanding the boundaries, and reducing the charge, to entice people back on the road.

So this is not about reducing traffic,for environmental or congestion reasons, it's just another cash cow for this Government.

Oh and if they don't make enough money from it, the councils will have to pay the shortfall, which in turn will put up council tax, that's really wise going into an economic downturn isn't it? more financial burden?

You will be receiving in the post, your ballot papers in post in the next week or so.

I urge you to weigh up the pros, and cons, and ask yourself.....Can i, or my family, be burdened with another extra tax in this economic crisis?

Chief Executive Janet Callender has resigned

TAMESIDE Council’s chief executive Janet Callender is understood to have resigned from her post. In a shock move, the town hall chief is believed to have walked away from her £155,000 a year post, which she once described as her “dream job”. It is unclear what triggered the decision, but she is not believed to have another job lined up. The former solicitor joined Tameside Council as chief executive five years ago. Previously she held both legal and senior management posts at Knowsley Council from 1993, and prior to that Manchester City Council. In June, she was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s birthday honours list for services to local government. Earlier this year it emerged she drew a salary of £155,000 a year — pocketing even more than a cabinet minister. She drew criticism from trade union bosses who were angry that her pay packet — which dwarfed that of pensions secretary Stalybridge and Hyde MP James Purnell on £137,579 — had been agreed, yet the equal pay claim issue for many of the borough’s workers dragged on. The ‘rich list’ published by the TaxPayers Alliance showed she was one of 88 chief executives across the country earning more than £150,000 a year.

America Has Spoken

Barack Obama last night, became the new President of the United States of America.

Firstly, i want to congratulate President Elect Obama on victory, and hope he is the "Change" he professes to be, for the good of the western world.

I want Obama to do the right thing, by keeping the troops out in Iraq and Afganistan for as long as the two Countries need us there.

When we do leave both Countries, they're ready security wise, to deal with insurgents and the Taliban.

If we leave too soon, or pull all troops out straight away, the Taliban will reform and we will be back to square one.

And all those brave American lives lost will have been for nothing.

I was watching the news coverage on various channels, i found the BBC appallingly one sided in their coverage in favour for Obama, confirming to me their left wing status in World media.

Sky News was the fairest in equal balanced coverage, giving both sides of the campaign.

We also have access to American stations on Sky, from CNN, Fox and CNBC.

Now having flicking through all the channels, i settled on Fox for basic comedy value, but what disturbed me was and bear with me on this one.

President Obama having been selected as the Democratic candidate, was great for them, they put forward a fresh faced candidate who came across as different in his approach to politics. whether you agreed with him, or not it's irrelevant.

He had the 97 Blair factor which won him the election.

Now where i have the big problem.

Several stations were interviewing African American people after voting, and a large proportion said they voted for Obama on the fact that "he was black".

Nothing to do with his polices, now i find that appalling.

That someone can vote for someone on the basis that they're of a certain colour, when you vote. It should be on the fact that this candidate, brings the best polices to the table.

And is the best person for the job, and their party will be the best for you.

Now if someone said i "were voting for McCain because he was white" then there would have been outrage.

I personally can't see a difference between the two quotes i find them both wrong.

I haven't got any problem with someone of a different colour to me, we're all human beings, we're all the same.

What actually defines you in life, is your actions and character, not your skin.

So why after years of saying we're all humans, we're not different to you, we should be treated equal, which we are by the way.

Do some turn around and vote because of the reason they quite rightly campaigned against?

That to me i's utterly wrong, and utterly hypocritical.

Vote For John McCain

Tomorrow America decides who they want as their next President, on one side you have the Democrat Barack Obama, and on the other side you have the Republican John McCain.
Having seen the media coverage in the States, i have found it very bias in favour of Obama, with very little balanced reporting, and don't think Mr Obama has been questioned and brought to task enough, for people to have seen the full picture.
Even though i have respect for what he says, i find his idealism's way off the mark.
I will never agree with anyone who wants to penalise someone who is successful in life by hammering them with tax.
But the scary thing is, he can't quite decide on what salary level a tax increase will hit you, first he said anyone earning under $250,000, then it was $200,000, the week later Biden said $150,000, now a Democrat Senator has announced it's $120,000.
That's halved in the matter of a few weeks, how can you take this mans word when he doesn't even know what his word is going to be?
Then there is his relationships with his confidant Rev. Dr Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr, a man who spouts racist hate, a man Obama turned to for advice for 20 years and called him friend,then all of a sudden when he decided to run for nomination, cast him aside and said he didn't agree his hateful remarks?
Or there is his Auntie, who is an Illegal immigrant in America, which Obama never knew she was there illegally?
This is the same Auntie, who made an illegal donation to Obama's campaign.
I wonder if she is registered to vote?
I think Obama has a lot hidden away, which the American media should have and had a duty to let people know.
There are a few things in politics that really gets on my nerves, like His campaign for instance. From day one, it was run on the fact that he would be the first black president.
I couldn't care less about the colour of his skin, it's irrelevant to me, it should be on the fact that he is the best person for the job, and not that he is African American.
I have heard certain people have even said, that "if people don't vote for Obama then it's because he is black" what an appalling thing to say, so just because you don't vote for him then you're a racist?
Things like this feed the racist element, and give them substance for their twisted message.
Now i personally think John McCain is the right man for the job, he has experience, he's respected, and has a history of working with the Democrats on cross party issues, for the good of the people, he has a clear message of change, and plans to create millions of new jobs by encouraging business not crippling them like Obama.
He has served his country for over 50 years, either in the forces, or in senate.
A man who has given so much for the country he loves, he also spent time as a POW, and must have seen all kinds of things.
This is the experience which has given him structure and character, and makes him, in my eyes the right candidate, the right man for the job.
If i were American, on Tuesday 4th November 2008, i would vote for John McCain.

Not All Is Well In Camp Labour

It has been reported this week, that CLLR Andrew Highton from Ashton StMichaels has been deselected for the next local election in 2010.

Now last year, it was reported they tried to deselect former mayor, and in my opinion a lovely lady Margaret Sidebottom.

So what is it about this ward?

My guess is, they're very nervous about losing in StMichaels, after Tory candidate Dr Paul Buckley slashed their majority to 6 votes at the last election.

Also with the excellent work, Ashton Conservatives continue to do in StMichaels, and in Hurst it looks like a Tory gain in 2010.

Well it would be so easy for me to say, the Tories are favourites, but the Labour Party have said that for me, by deselecting their "weakest link" a Labour source told me "They are really worried in Ashton, what with the massive swing in Hurst, and in StMichaels. But privately think that their real weakest link is Bill Harrison, who is up in 2011. and also said they have had to act quickly, before it's too late"

Now we look at the 3 man list they have to replace CLLR Highton. Firstly they have Idu Miah who was a losing candidate in Mossley last year. Secondly they have Roy Oldhams friend and former Tameside Council hiaracy Paul Dowthwaite, who last year received a hammering in Hurst, personally i haven't seen a man cry that much since Italia 90, and thirdly Bill Fairfowl.

Looking at the list, personally i am not that impressed with the quality Labour have in their ranks, i thought "much fancied" Claire Francis would have been on the list.

But i am told that they have plans for her in Longdendale, for when CLLR Oldham finally releases his firm grip on the Council.

I hear she has a special bond with a certain Longdendale CLLR anyway.

It looks like the Conservatives will take their first seat in StMichaels, and we expect a fight, no doubt usual dirty tactics will be used by Labour i.e Audenshaw 08 and Hurst 07 but we may have an ace up our sleeve?.

Fears For Hyde United Stalwart Chris Hilton

AN AIR and land search has been launched to look for a science teacher missing for almost two weeks in the French Alps.

Christopher Hilton, 33, had watched some of the later stages of the Tour de France near Grenoble with his parents before he disappeared. He told them he was going for a walk in the mountains near Le Bourg-d'Oisans, a town in the Ecrins area of the Alps.

Mr Hilton, who works at Littlemoss High School, Droylsden, has not been seen or heard of since.

Friends who learned of his disappearance on July 27 made several desperate calls to his mobile phone, which have gone unanswered.

A spokeswoman for the Foreign Office said the search was ongoing and Mr Hilton's parents had been provided with consular assistance.

Mr Hilton, said to be from Stalybridge, was secretary of the Hyde United Supporters' Club and team photographer.

The club thought it unusual it had not heard from him with the start of the new season approaching and only discovered he was missing after playing a local friendly match.

Tony Beard, director of football, said: "The club is shocked and we just hope he turns up safe and well.

"Chris is very popular, respected and a well-liked volunteer at the club.

"He is very knowledgeable about football and well known in the non-league football scene.

Chris is also a popular teacher who does a lot both inside and outside of school".

Eddie Dixon, deputy head of Littlemoss High, said: "Chris has worked at the school for more than seven years and is very popular and conscientious.

"He is dedicated to his work at the school and to pupils and staff alike," said Mr Dixon.

Now i know Chris from my time i spent watching Hyde United he is a god send to the club like a handfull of other people who tirelesly work voluntary for this club he's a complete gentleman and really nice man i saw him a couple of weeks ago and he was saying how much he was looking forward to the new season and for him not to be there for the first match of the season is very worrying my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends and hoping that the news we get is good news.

Never Spoil A Good Story With The Truth!

How predictable that the one Post Office saved was 1 of the 2 in Droylsden.
What really gets me is the likes of David Hayes MP standing outside Edge Lane Post Office with a banner as seen in this weeks edition of the Advertiser on page 5 with CLLR's Cooney,Middleton and Holland.
But i just want to remind people that David Hayes MP voted for closure like James Purnell MP and the weasel like character Andrew Gwynne MP did.
You can't vote for closure then go and pose for pictures saying "Save Our Post Offices" it's like getting a job as a Vegetarian spokesman then going out for a steak meal to celebrate getting the job.
But the biggest joke out of the lot is yet again the Labour Party are taking credit for what local Conservatives did our petition gained in the region of 2000 signatures including former Labour Party candidates while the Labour Party struggled with a couple of hundred.
But yet again the local spoon fed media decide to ignore these facts.
The Post Office which got a large proportion of the signatures was the Cheetham Fold Road branch the feeling in the local community is very strong and is a much used Post Office which funny enough makes a good profit so you would ask yourself why close a profitable business?
It beggars my belief.
I believe the Labour Party have have lost any claim they have had that they are for the "common man" or "the working class" which they quite frankly insultingly use as they like nothing better to fight things on class something which they are very much short of you are nothing but a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Andrew Gwynne Denton and Reddish's Labour MP has released a statement due to the announcement of proposed closure of 6 Post Offices in Tameside.

His comments are full of typical arrogance on one hand campaigns for Post Offices to be kept open then when in Parliament with his other two Labour MP's in Tameside vote for closure

Hypocrite that's what this man is but he goes on

“This closure brings Denton, Audenshaw and Dukinfield to the minimum network standard, having suffered from a small number of Post Office closures in 2005, as well as a larger number of closures under the previous Conservative Government.”

You Voted For Closure, Your party has been in Government for 11 years,you have taken services away from the Post Office and closed 24 Post Offices in and around Tameside since 1999, so you can't blame a previous Government.

He continues...........

“We need to build up Post Office custom, and that means we need to make sure the Government gives business to the Post Office that people want to use, and that people have easy access to.”

You voted for closure, how can diluting and removing the services be a benefit?

He continues and this comments really sums him up...............

“I will always fight to make sure my constituents have good access to Post Office services, and that those services are the ones that people need and want to use.”

You voted for closure, how can you support the Post Office and it's services for people when you voted for bloody closure?

Again this Labour party are dictating to you where and how you use Post Office services under this Government services are going backwards not forwards.

They are now hitting people who need the help the most our elders.

Yes that little old lady everyone knows, the 80 odd year old who has worked all her life and uses her local Post Office to draw her pension and pay her bills.

She can't walk very far, and doesn't want to rely on public transport! because it's not very good.

Now she finds that Post Office is not there, and the nearest one is a couple of miles away.

What does she do? Call Ring and Ride? they might be able to pick her up but not at the time she wants and needs! Rely on her Family? Most people work until 5pm, and the post office closes at 5:30pm.

So that rules that one out! right, what about a Taxi? £2 flat rate average cost £5 times 2 =£10 expensive isn't it especially for someone on a state pension.

Very expensive over the course of a year isn't it? but why should they bother, they will still expect you to vote for them.

As they will still pretend to be for the working class which is laughable!

if it's not them voting for 42 days detention without any evidence supporting it, or not giving you the right for a referendum over the European constitution which they promised.

Or the theft of the motorist regarding the taxation or the Congestion Charge.

They're losing personal information on a weekly basis, but will still press ahead with national ID cards.

Has anyone spotted a pattern here everything they're doing is about how they control you, where you shop, how you shop where you can go and how you can get there this is not a democratic government it's a dictatorship.

Plastic Police In Yet More Trouble

A story in this mornings nationals got my attention regarding two Christian preachers who were told they were committing a "hate crime" by handing out gospel leaflets.
Now I'm sure you have had in many town centres been stopped by many people with leaflets from dry cleaning to cheap phonecards and I've been stopped many times by members of the church of Jesus Christ later day saints it's funny as they all seam to have the same suit on and talk with a Canadian/American accent.
I always say no thanks like i would to anyone who was preaching to me in the street whether Christian, Muslim, Jewish it doesn't matter to me I'm not offended and wish them well because how can you be offended by somebody wishing you well?
We live in Britain and when somebody doesn't want to speak to or listen to somebody we have the right to walk away what ever colour you are.

Anyway these two Evangelical ministers Arthur Cunningham and Joesph Abraham were threatened with arrest and ordered to leave or face being "beaten up"
How this come around was they were seen talking to four Asian youths in Birmingham.
It's then reported that an Asian PCSO accused the two gentlemen of trying to convert Muslim youths and then launched into a tirade against President Bush and the war in Iraq.
Father Joesph a pastor at Grace Bible Fellowship Church in Saltley, Birmingham said "He couldn't believe this was happening in Britain"
He went on to say "the Bishop of Rochester, the Rt Rev Michael Nazir Ali had been criticised by the Church of England for saying "there were no-go areas in Britain"
But Father Joesph went on to say "he was right. We were doing nothing more than expressing religious freedom because this is a free country"
"The office said we were off limits" and said "We were committing a hate crime but who were we hating, exactly, i have no idea.
We were also accused of trying to convert Muslim youths in a Muslim area and threatened with arrest"
When the officer discovered Egyptian born Father Joesph and his colleague were Americans, he launched into a anti US speech he allegedly kept saying "look at what you president has done to Iraq and Afghanistan"
"When we were leaving he said: "if you come back here and get beaten up...... well you have been warned"
The ministers are now being backed by the Christian Institute and other religious groups from all faiths who have all branded the officers behaviour "deeply alarming"
They have complained to the West Midlands Police that their human rights were infringed and have demanded an apology and damages.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said the support officer was merely trying to prevent trouble in Birmingham's mainly Asian Alum Rock Road.
But Birmingham MP Lib Dem's John Hemming said "Wherever you are in the country you should be entitled to freedom of religious expression"

Well i never thought i would agree with a Lib Dem, so what if these two gentleman were talking to four Asian youths, it's called integration with other religions and communities, isn't that what is encouraged?
This PCSO should be ashamed of himself, and should be sacked because he is not fit to represent The Queen and this country, as an officer he should be impartial and to represent and uphold the law, to the letter of the law.
Isn't his tirade against the Americans racist?
Isn't he having a go at these two Americans because they are from America?
Now if it's illegal to speak to other people from other religions in the street ?then arrest me now, because I've done it, in fact I've done it on many occasions as i will talk to anyone as that is how you get to know people.

I feel that the politically correct brigade are their own worse enemies at times.
A community support officer telling two peace loving Christians that they are committing a "hate crime" just by preaching the gospel near to Muslims isn't just madness....... it's down right dangerous.
Britain's always been a melting pot, welcoming all, as long as they live by the laws of the land and get on with their new neighbours
But now because of buffoons like this PCSO, far right parties are rising to power on the back of policies claiming ethnic minorities are taking over the UK.
Which is rubbish by the way.
Try telling them different when plastic plods are acting like this?
This fool might as well become a recruiting officer for the BNP shame on you.

Please, Please , Please Will You Empty My Bin!

Last night while i met up with a few friends at my local to watch that shower of sh*t that is our national team, i got approached by somebody who knows my interests, out of the blue said "I'm sick and tired of that f*cking council" now being a Tory activist, i always welcome people having a go at the Labour controlled group.
So i asked him what was up? and he said "Why are my bins only emptied twice a month?" i replied "that the council have to hit government targets regarding recycling"
He then said "I've worked all my life, paid my taxes, have children, who have grown up and they now have kids, and they stay at my house several times a week, so i have quite a bit of waste, from nappies to waste food, and my bin gets quite full quite quickly".
I don't mind recycling, i do all i can! i separate my glass bottles from plastic and put my newspapers in a separate bin but i still don't have any room as they go through nappies like mad, and if the bin lid is slightly up then the binmen won't collect"
It dawned on me that this man was right, it's an appalling system.

Yes recycling is important, but so are people, and their Families why should this man suffer?
I feel sometimes the environment is used as a smoke screen, for extra taxes just look at any response when you raise the question, they just say you are anti green, whether it's charging you for Carrier bags or congestion charge it's all extra money, which quite frankly could be spent else where.
The problem we have is all food in supermarkets are heavily packed with needless packaging, the government should instead of hitting families should be encouraging manufactures to come up with other ways of packing food, take a normal box of cereal? it has a bag inside the box why does it have a box? why can't they toughen the internal bag and put the printing on the bag other food items come in bags so why can't cereal?
All fresh meat come in trays from the supermarket, why can't it just be vacuumed packed? it's just simple ideas which the government should push.
This way when this gentleman like many others do their shopping for their family, they can buy their goods and when they throw things away after they have very little to put in the bin.

If all parties are serious about the environment? for benefit of the planet, and not their pockets. Then they must take this serious? as there are many people who have been let down, and it's it's people like this gentleman we really should be looking after, not just our own interests!

Darling must do road tax U-turn

George Osborne has called on Alistair Darling and Gordon Brown to back down on plans to increase the road tax on family cars.

Low-income households will be hit disproportionately by the increases in Vehicle Excise Duty announced in Darling's last Budget.George, the Shadow Chancellor, stressed, "At a time when families are feeling the rising cost of living, the Government would be foolish to proceed with a big increase in road tax on family cars."

He pointed out that we have consistently opposed Darling's road tax hike, saying:"We believe that any increase in road tax should be focused on the most polluting vehicles and offset by reductions in family taxes so that they are genuine green taxes, not stealth taxes."

Will This Be Number 3 For Man United?

Tonight is the Champions League Final in Moscow kick off 7:45pm.

Manchester United have been the best team in the country this year and i believe they deserve to win as they have the better team and play the game as it should be.

I think all the local pubs will be busy tonight so get in early, and i might even have a few pints myself.

Not too many though as i will be leaving early in the morning with Stacey Knighton (so much for her defecting hey Mr Taylor?) down to Crewe and Nantwich, and help Edward Timpson.

That reminds me i need to get a key cut.

Here's hoping the game is played with an attacking outlook, and the right result at the end of the game.

As long as the winners are Manchester United i'm happy.

Poor Show From Audenshaw's Newest Councillor

Last nights council meeting was an eventful affair.

We had the leaders usual speech which sent many people into the land of nod.The way Mr Oldham spoke you would have thought everything was Rosy in a time where cost of living is through the roof Bread is £1.20 per loaf, Milk is 50p per pint, and fuel is £5.00 per gallon.

He goes on to say crime is down, which is laughable, i really don't think this man lives in the real world.

He again slated United Utilities for their patch work quilt work on our roads, but what they're very quiet about is Tameside council are a major shareholder in Greater Manchester Pension Fund, who in turn are a large share holder in yes you've got it United Utilities.

After the council meeting, was the crowning of a new mayor, the chairman of the council meetings Jack Davies.
I don't know how he's going to balance the two jobs, but let's hope becoming mayor it gives him a new impartial lease of life? but i wouldn't hold my breath.
Anyway the council meeting was like ladies day at Ascot, with each female Labour councillor trying to out do the other.
Special mention goes to Lynn Travis, and had come as her very own Tameside in bloom, she looked as though her full outfit had been sponsored by Inter Flora.

There was a noticeable absence in the newest Audenshaw councillor Jean Brazil, here is a lady who fought her election on "if you value it? vote for it" and how she was going to make a real difference on the council.
On the council website it has the above picture, no photograph.
You couldn't make it up!
But i suppose you have to turn up for a photograph or maybe not, James Purnell didn't he has his picture super imposed at a later date which of course knew nothing about.

Well Jean the good people voted for a councillor who would represent them on council, which you promised, and you failed to turn up at your very first council meeting, that's real value Jean, all the other new councillors turned up Dawson Lane from Labour and Clive Patrick and Dorothy Cartwright from the Conservatives.

Special mention must go to Dorothy who had just come out of Hospital, but thought she must go to council and represent the good people who voted for her as she doesn't take her position for granted, she said she was in agony sat there during the meeting.
But i don't know whether it was due to her stay in hospital? or through Roy Oldhams drivel?.
We was told Jean had a cold, but that doesn't wash with me the meeting lasted less than a hour she could have dosed her self up and then gone home.
But just short of a month since the elections, she showed no effort to be there.
Is this a sign of things to come?

The Next Mayor Of Tameside Will Be From The Labour Party, Now There's A Shock!!

Jack Davis will be installed as the next Mayor of Tameside, on Tuesday 20th May 2008 at 7pm.

The good news for all us is, the lovely people at Tameside Council have allowed us normal people to view this grand event, on the Council website how lucky us peasants are?

Another reason to be grateful for living in the Republic of Tameside

Keeping on topic here, Tameside being a pioneer of democracy? and a shining example of how wonderful a council should be? (or so we're told by them) haven't had a opposition mayor since well they took control of the council in the 1970's, how democratic of them.

If they do keep with the current system should they have the position of Mayor on a proportional basis? there is 13 opposition councillors (10 Conservative and 3 Independents)

Isn't it time for Mr Oldham and his merry men and women to share the wealth?

Or would that upset the Apple cart?

Looking at London for example, who now have a Conservative Mayor in Boris Johnson.

The people of London had the chance on May 1st to democratically vote for who their Mayor would be.

They picked a Conservative, this maybe the reason Mr Oldham would never dream of having a vote on the matter.

Wouldn't this be a good idea for Tameside?

Shouldn't we as voters have a say in who our Mayor should be?

Or is this just another job for the boys? where they throw an extra few quid a year as a thank you for agreeing with everything the council leader says?

Tameside is in Greater Manchester, and not Zimbabwe.

The Draft Queen's Speech - David Cameron Responds

There are lots of things in this statement we welcome - not least because we proposed them.
"We welcome the constitution for the NHS - an idea we set out last June. We welcome the extension of the right to request flexible working.

We announced that in September 2006.

We welcome the independent exam regulator.

I raised and proposed that in 2005.

The list is enormous.

Simple saving scheme: The 2005 Tory Manifesto.

Regulatory budgets: in 2006.

"The list is almost as long as the draft Queen's Speech.
I hope when he gets up we'll get a bit of gratitude from the Prime Minister.
He can't really say we haven't got any substance when he's taken it all and put it in his Queen's Speech.
"We particularly welcome what he had to say about shared equity.
These proposals are being pioneered in record numbers by the record numbers of Conservative councils up and down the country.

And most of all we welcome the welfare reforms.
"The Prime Minister has stuffed Number 10 full of spin doctors and pollsters.
Why not just get a shorthand typist and send them to the Tory Conference to take it down? It would save a lot of money."

And now we hear that the Prime Minister is going to accept our proposals for elected officials to make the police accountable.

This is the proposal his Government called "completely daft". I think they meant completely draft.
This is a great idea - that officials who hold office and wield power should be elected.
Who knows, it might catch on.

One day we might just have an elected Prime Minister.

"Look at the Bills that are to clear up the mess of the last decade."

Haven't we got a Banking Bill because the regulatory system he created ten years ago failed its first test on Northern Rock?"
Haven't we got an NHS Bill because a decade after they promised to end mixed sex wards, they're still there, the promise has been broken and people aren't getting the care they need?"
Aren't we getting an Immigration Bill because the Government completely failed to prepare for or even anticipate the scale of immigration that is taking place?"
Aren't we having a Welfare Bill because after fifteen years of global growth, Britain has got five million people on out of work benefits?"

Let's be frank about what today's statement adds up to.

It's another relaunch.
And he's had to bring it forward. They're still struggling to implement last year's Queen's Speech. No solution to 42 days. Still rewriting last year's Budget. Whole Bills, badly drafted, still stuck in the House of Lords.
No wonder he wants to talk about next year's Queen's Speech."But this Queen's Speech has nothing to do with the long-term needs of the country - and everything to do with the short-term political survival of the Prime Minister."

I believe the truth of this Queen's Speech is that it reveals the Prime Minister's deeper problem. When it comes to the progressive goals we really need to achieve in this country - unblocking social mobility, beating poverty, taking people out of persistent deprivation - his ideas have run out of steam. "He doesn't have the solutions anymore.

Instead of more redistribution, more tax credits, more top-down state control, we need a government that tackles the underlying causes of poverty.

We need a government that fights family breakdown.
We need a government that breaks open the monopoly of state education.
We need a government that can work with the voluntary sector.

Isn't it the case he can't do that?
And we can.
"The one positive part of what the Prime Minister had to say is the claim he wants personalised public services.
If that's true, why doesn't he accept our plan to bust open the state monopoly in education and allow new schools to open?
"On housing, why doesn't he scrap the restrictions on right to buy, and accept our plans to extend it to all council and housing association tenants?
"The fact is this Prime Minister doesn't believe in giving people real choice and control over their lives.

If he did, he would have given us a referendum on the EU constitution.

"Watching this Prime Minister talking about personal choice, giving people more freedom and letting them have more control over their lives is completely unconvincing.
"The Supreme Leader just doesn't do freedom.Won't people rightly conclude that if you want a Government that gives you more freedom, choice and competition, you might as well vote for the real thing?

But then isn't there the negative side to what the Prime Minister had to say?

"It's his usual trick of political positioning, and setting these false dividing lines he's completely obsessed with.
When will he learn that it is this political positioning and it is these fake dividing lines that landed him in the mess he is in today?
"He is facing defeat on banging people up for 42 days without charge, not because it's the right thing to do, but because he wanted to try to look tough.
"He had the shambles of yesterday because his Budget wasn't about helping the poorest people; it was about posing as a tax cutter.

And that's why he's had to have such a big u-turn.

"There's one part of the Queen's Speech we will fight against tooth and nail. And that's his plan to enforce polyclinics and close GP surgeries up and down the country - although of course it will be noted there won't be any of them in his constituency.

"And we will continue to fight this Government's real agenda.Closing Post Offices - tearing the heart out of rural communities.Releasing prisoners - making our streets more dangerous.
And taxing businesses so they move abroad.

"After yesterday's u-turn, today's Queen's Speech is just another attempt to save the Prime Minister's skin. It won't wash.

"People can see a Government - not just a Prime Minister - that's run out of road, run out of money, run out of ideas.

Seven months ago the Prime Minister cancelled the election because he said he needed more time to set out his vision.
Now we can see there isn't a vision. So when can we get on and have the election?

"This morning we read about a new plan from this great man of substance - and it's to appear on a new version of The Apprentice.

The Communities Secretary said this is The Apprentice meets Maria, meets Strictly Come Dancing.

I've got a better idea for the Prime Minister.

Why not take part in a reality show that involves the whole of the country? It's called a General Election.

"Wouldn't it give everyone the chance to stand up in front of the Prime Minister and say "You're fired"?

Isn't that the only way we're going to get a Government that really gives people control over their lives; that really strengthens our families and our society; and that really makes our country safer and greener?"

I submitted a letter to the local rag the Advertiser last week, in response to their story regarding CRB checks they have obviously declined to print this.
I suppose it intervenes into the Ireane Woodcock, and John Taylor weekly show.
Having thought the story which they printed which was near enough the same coverage of the entire 2008 election coverage was important to them, i thought they would appreciate feedback.

Below is the letter i sent to them, maybe in future i should move to Dukinfield or change my political allegiances to have something printed.

Dear Sir,

After reading your article regarding CRB checks, i would like to make a few points.
Who is actually paying for the CRB Checks?Is the Councillor themselves or is it the Tax Payer?
If it is the Tax Payer, then why does a Councillor have a yearly allowance? surely this should pay for the said CRB check?
I also notice CLLR Roy Oldham's statement "since Audenshaw councillor Peter Wright's hidden criminal past was revealed, the public have a right to be assured councillors are squeaky clean?"
No, that all sounds great but the CRB check is riddled with flaws, firstly a CRB check wouldn't have found Peter Wrights past as he was imprisoned in Angola in the 70's and would have also failed to stop Ian Huntley being employed as a School caretaker in Soham as the check only goes back 5 years.
I would also like to know if a CRB check does uncover any wrong doings in the past, what would happen to the said Councillor?
I also found Councillor Joe Kitchens remarks very petty regarding CLLR's Kelly and Dickinson saying they "should resign"Why should they resign for something which was voluntary for the said Councillors.
If Labour controlled Tameside council really wanted to make a stand for CRB checks then why don't they make it compulsory for ALL CANDIDATES in local elections to have one before standing.
Surely this would iron out any potential problems? But they won't, as they only make a stand, when it suits them for cheap political points.

More Cuts By Labour

Andrew Lansley has condemned new plans to close at least three A&E and maternity units in the East of England.

The closures were announced in Labour's blueprint for the NHS in the East of England, which is the first wave of Lord Darzi's reconfiguration plans for the health system.

Andrew, the Shadow Health Secretary, said the decision to shut down viable and accessible services was "shameful":"There's no doubt that these changes aren't being driven by local communities; they're coming straight from Whitehall as a direct result of Lord Darzi's big top-down review." And he stressed: "We value our local NHS services and don't want to lose them. Labour seem to be getting more and more out-of-touch with that strongly-held feeling."

So the Labour Party the party of the people, the party of the NHS, the party of the Post Office, and what ever else they claim to be still the party of.

They still continue to close more A&E and maternity units, in an age where there is more and more people on this tiny island, we decide to cut more and more services.

That makes sense!

More people less services, but really what does make sense in the Labour Party anymore.

This is a party who campaign in their local areas to stop closures, then when it comes to vote in Parliament they vote for closure.

This is a party who scraped the 10 pence rate in income tax, then um and ahh over things and announced a pre election bribe to the people of Crewe.

How can we be sure that the latest changes are for the better or is this just another announcement which when broke down means people are worse off.

Today they announce several measures which the Conservatives have already announced but don't forget we are a party without substance aren't we?

Time to call an election Mr Brown or have you out lawed that as well in your Starlinist manner?

Gordon Is Most Definitely A Moron!

Gordon Brown this morning in what can be described as a weak interview.
(well that's the polite version)
Said he would relish to take on David Cameron in a General Election.

Anyone ,including the most die hard Labour voter, thinks at this moment that Labour will not win.
With the Conservatives 20 POINTS AHEAD, and the swing in Tameside being quite big from Thursday nights results, even James Purnell would be out on his ear.
Now if Labour lost Hyde and Stalybridge to the Tories, this would be one of two things, this would result in a 150 seat gain from Labour this would be massive, and secondly a hell of a message to Tameside council.
Now before you start thinking I'm jumping the gun here, maybe i am a little, but what i am saying if seats like Mr Purnells is now under pressure, it says how far behind nationally.

Gordon said "My first priority is to get on with the job" this thing is Mr Brown your own party don't think you're capable of doing it, they have no confidence in you.

If your own party have no confidence, how on earth are the general public likely to?

You have made so many mistakes, and can't remember on one occasion where you have accepted responsibility.

In fact i can't remember when you have answered a question directly.

You craved the job so much while you was Chancellor, while you maybe a good manager? your a really bad leader, a bit like Steve Mclarren as England manager.

Gordon Brown, Roy Oldham, Paul Dowthwaite, Mike Ballagher, Claire Francis, Bernhard Walsh and Pauline Harrison your Party took one hell of a beating.

Tameside Tories were celebrating last night, with gains in Stalybridge North and Staly/Duk bringing Conservative Councillors to DOUBLE FIGURES 10.

In other huge shock Richard Ambler gained a near 800 vote majority, i say this is a shock, we expected to retain the seat but not by that margin.
I personally think that the people of Ashton Hurst, realised what a mistake they made last year by voting for the useless Alan Whitehead.

On a sour note! the Labour Party in Audenshaw, were an absolute disgrace, with special mention to their candidate for the underhand campaign she lead.
Lets hope she will back up her pledges? but if we base it on the other two Councillors, i don't hold much hope.
Conservative candidate Stacey, lead a clean campaign and never got personal with the Labour victor, and should be proud of what she did and will continue to do in Audenshaw.

Derek in Hyde Werneth, won with an increased majority, i have been critical of the Labour candidate regarding what she put in her Election leaflet, and some of the blatant UN truths she had been advised to put.

But what I've heard she showed respect, and dignity in defeat, and for that i applaud.

I feel for Claire as she has had her head filled with magic, by people who many people including their own party don't hold in the greatest esteem.
This is an open invitation, to Claire to join the Conservative Party as we are able to look after our candidates, and wouldn't not have treated her like her own party did.

In other areas we did fantastic St Michaels, we reduced the Labour majority to just 6, and Denton West to 14 both will turn Blue in 2010.
Also Longdendale, we are breathing down Labour necks, CLLR Oldham we are coming to take YOUR SEAT.

I think this message will blow the FAILED LABOUR CANDIDATE out of the water.
The last time this FAILED LABOUR CANDIDATE stood she got kicked out by the people in Ashton Hurst, after she proved to be a waste of space as a Councillor.

I think the people in Ashton St Michaels ,are thinking the same about her husband, or so i've been told by people on the door step.
(Yes another Husband and Wife Team in the Labour Party)

Now do the people of Stalybridge South want this FAILED LABOUR CANDIDATE to represent them?
I think the answer will be a resounding NO.

But you see right across Tameside, even in the times when the Labour Party are 18 POINTS BEHIND in the polls to the Conservatives they still have an air of SMUGNESS about them from the candidate in Hyde Werneth Claire Francis, (AKA Miss Pushy as one of the local reporters nicely phrased)
To sitting Councillors like Ged Cooney, who in his candidates election address in the Tameside Reporter, managed to literally string a sentence together, maybe he was busy thinking where to put his glasses? or what witty anecdote he can come out with in Council? or maybe the real reason is he's so complacent that he doesn't have to try any more as he thinks he will walk it?

These are all reasons why not to vote Labour on May 1st.
They expect your vote, we don't, we work hard for it.

Whether it's sending out regular Hurst First in Ashton Hurst, by letting the people of Hurst know what their Councillors are doing.
Or standing up for residents like Derek Baines on Paddock Road, making sure the Council do their bloody job.
On every single leaflet for each candidate they PROMISE that your already high Council Tax will be going up by a further 10% in the next three years.

This ABOVE INFLATION rate is their election message, they have nothing else, no new idea's.

David Cameron has announced plans to free up local transport funding from Whitehall bureaucracy, by allowing councils to improve their own local transport infrastructure – without the blackmail of the congestion charge

Commenting at the launch of the Conservatives’ new policy, David said,
"Local authorities, in partnership with the people living locally, are the real sources of ingenuity"

They know the area - and they know what will work best.

“The problem today is that all we get from Labour is the same old top-down, centralised, one-size-fits all bureaucratic state interventionism. So they set up a 'Transport Innovation Fund', earmarking £200 million for local schemes. And then say Local Authorities will only get this money if they introduce road charging.

”That's not innovation - it's conscription. It's telling people that Whitehall knows best and your views don't matter. Instead, with a Conservative Government, we will give this £200 million directly to Local Authorities and set them free to consult with local people and spend it on the green transport solutions that suit their communities.”

Caroline Spelman has welcomed the defection of three more Liberal Democrat councilors to the Conservatives.

Danny Titcombe, from the Highbridge Ward in Sedgemoor, Janet Hedges, from the Epping Hemnall Ward, and Marc Cranfield Adams, the Mayor of Richmond-upon-Thames, have all left the Liberal Democrats to join the Conservatives.

Caroline, the Party Chairman, said she was "delighted" at their decisions, and explained:"Like many people they have been attracted by David Cameron's positive agenda and want to help the Conservatives deliver the changes our country needs."

Based on this current trend of Lib Dems defecting to the Tories, will the absent Lib Dem candidates in Hurst and Audenshaw be good news for the Tories?

Last nights council meeting was an eye opener for a few new faces in attendance.
One gentleman came up to me after the meeting, and said "He was shocked at how certain Labour councillors acted in council"

I told him this was nothing, compared to previous meetings.

What i did notice, was a few Labour councillors looking a little nervous, maybe thinking what they're going to do after May 1st.

CLLR Jack Davis who frighteningly has an inability to chair a meeting evenly.
Who only seams to react to opposition councillors, rather than look round at his own colleagues petulant behaviour.

Both Ged Cooney, and Jim Fitzpatrick get special mentions for their usual childish antics.

But this is a common feature at a council meeting.

Ged a man so indecisive, he doesn't know if he's to put his glasses on his head, or on his face.
Jim who's only input into a council meeting, is to talk about a insignificant candidate in Werneth, saying how wonderful she is, the way he talks about her it's as though she has discovered the cure for cancer, not forgetting his non appearance at his own fathers presentation on becoming an alderman, yes this man is full of class.

The scariest thing is these people are entrusted with hundreds of millions of pounds of public money, i wouldn't trust some of these to tie their own shoe laces, never mind make a decision.

Anyway the point of this post is to comment on CLLR Roy Oldhams comments.
CLLR Oldham, if you don't know is executive leader of the council, i suppose the executive part is to make him feel a bit special.

This is a man who if he cracked a smile i think it might kill him often makes cheap remarks, which to be honest is embarrassing for a man of his position.

CLLR Oldham responded to CLLR Bells comments regarding CLLR Martin Wareing's ramblings, at a previous meeting.

Martin said "This budget is so easy to understand even a house wife could understand it" now CLLR Bell said that there was no place for comments like that in this day and age, and if he couldn't get with the times he should step aside for someone younger.

Now most sane people would agree with John Bell on this occasion? but Roy being Roy, said that "To attack a man of Martins age is disgraceful, Martin never meant anything by it, it's how people of his generation talk, if it wasn't for people like him we wouldn't be sat here in the chamber"

That's all being well, but just because you are of a certain age doesn't give you the right to say anything offensive, and to stereotype a generation like Roy did beggars belief.
But this is not the first time Roy has stereotyped a group of people last time it was Irish builders.

A lot of old people say comments, which the majority of us may view as racist, or homophobic, does that give them the right? just because they're old? no, it does not, if CLLR Oldham thinks this man is above criticism? then he best think again.

Don't get me wrong, i respect Martin for what he has done, he's been a great servant to his ward and the council.
But if this man has his own set of rules? then i advise him to step aside with Roy following closely behind him.

On May 1st Martin is up again for election, now if this man can't do the job which the impression i got from Roy Oldham was he has a certain degree of doubt then it's time for somebody else to take over?

I had the miss pleasure of receiving Claire Francis's Election leaflet this morning.

She claims the people of Werneth have been let down by the 3 Conservative Councillors?.

The only people Claire, who have been let down is the people of Werneth.

They have been let down by the Labour Party, the party you represent.

From a 60% increase in council tax in 10 years, to the removal of weekly food waste collections, i could go on but every man and his dog knows your words like you parties words are not worth the paper it's written on.

You also said it's time for change? and that the Conservative CLLR's have been there too long?

What as supposed to having council leader Roy Oldham who's been leader since 1980, longer than you have been alive?

That's the only change whats required!

You represent a party who has lost millions of peoples personal details, made the biggest balls up over Northern Rock, have a Prime Minister who when chancellor sold of the Countrys gold reserves, which saw a bigger loss to three black Wednesdays, this is all through incompetence and arrogance, and you have lost the respect from the general public.

Locally your party are more interested in Plant Pots, than pot holes in the roads.

The state of the roads in Tameside are a disgrace, and it's your party who are responsible, through neglect, no one else, this is my view and not my parties i believe just to blame the utilities companies is short sighted and Tameside council should take a degree of responsibility.

To the destruction of markets across the borough Denton, Audenshaw, Stalybridge it's only a matter of time until Hyde loses theirs.

Crime levels in Tameside have not changed significantly since April 2003 - and the safety of our neighbourhoods increasingly relies on civilian officers.

This has to change.

Tameside Conservatives will fund extra police officers for Tameside and pay Special Constables – meaning real officers for our streets with real powers to truly eradicate crime.
We will also tackle youth annoyance and anti-social behaviour, with a package of measures including; enhanced street lighting, extra funding for alley-gating, and mobile CCTV units to be used in conjunction with the police.

It’s time for 2-hour free parking on all council car parks...

Our town centres are fighting a decline in their fortunes in the face of competition from out-of-town developments & supermarkets.

We will also concertedly campaign to ensure the survival of the borough’s remaining markets – to retain the borough’s unique character and ensure the survival of our consumer heritage.

It’s time to ensure every six-year-old can read and write…

Tameside’s exam pass rates are no more than average. Our children and teachers are being let down by Labour.
We will raise standards by putting Maths and English at the heart of every child’s education, ensuring every child can read and write by the time they are six years old, and following that commitment through their school years.
We will ensure every child achieves their potential - whether they are academically or vocationally talented - through a system of streaming, the introduction of more vocational courses, and greater partnership work with local businesses - ensuring our children are better qualified to enter their working years.

It’s time to oppose Labour’s congestion charge…

Tameside Conservatives are absolutely opposed to Labour’s plans for congestion charging on our roads in Tameside.
Instead we will lobby to ensure the Labour government delivers on its broken promises, such as the Metrolink extension to Ashton and more yellow school buses – proven solutions to road congestion.
It has been estimated that the expansion of the Metrolink alone would take 5.9 million cars of our roads – providing major road relief without the need of the con-charge.
After three decades of inaction, Labour admit that Tameside’s roads are ‘degrading’. We are therefore committed to implementing a road and footpath repair programme to make them safe for road users and pedestrians.
We will also undertake a complete review of the borough’s road network. We will remove unnecessary obstacles to congestion - including the possible streamlining of our traffic light system - as well as reviewing the location of all Tameside’s Gatsco and Watchman speed cameras, to ensure that the borough’s cameras are placed in the areas of main priority and are being used for the specific reason they were created, to cut accident rates.

It’s time to guarantee your weekly food waste collection…

Tameside Conservatives support efforts to increase recycling rates in the borough, but not the removal of weekly food waste collections in the managed bin collections that are being extended across the borough by Labour.
We will therefore ensure a weekly food waste collection is reintroduced in those areas affected by the trial, and guarantee its continuation in the rest of Tameside.
The Green Belt boundaries are up for review in 2011, and Tameside Conservatives are committed to protecting the green space we have and improving the appearance of our borough, to ensure a greener future.
We will also abolish the £15 charge for the removal of bulky household waste, to remove the increasing problem of fly-tipping in the borough.

It’s time to provide more for our young people, vulnerable & elderly…

Youth annoyance is endemic in Tameside. It is one of the biggest problems to blight neighbourhoods. So why have Labour cut youth provision? We believe far much more can be done to engage our children, to ensure that they are considered a credit to our community, not a concern.
In order to achieve our aims we will provide youth workers for every single area of Tameside, with a greater use of our schools for youth activities in out-of-school hours, ensuring our young people have somewhere to go and something to do.
We will also develop and maintain play areas across the borough to provide better play provision for our children.
With an ageing population, more help is needed for the most vulnerable in our society.
We therefore pledge to improve council facilities for elderly and vulnerable residents – so that their long-term needs are met.
We will remove unnecessary waste in the Social Services budget – to ensure that help is directed where it’s needed most, faster.

All this will be possible, and Council Tax will be kept low, by spending it only on the things that matter…

This week Labour increased tax on some of the lowest paid workers from 10p in the pound to 20p in the pound.

Both James Purnel and Andrew Gwynne voted for increased tax on the lowest paid.
Labour has since confirmed that 5.3 million families will lose out and official figures show that one in five families will be worse off by anything up to £464.
For example,
Nursery nurses will pay an average £154 more per year
Bar Staff will pay £67 more
Catering assistants £161 more
Retail Cashiers £227 more
Library clerks £203 more
Hairdressers £198 more
Receptionists £167 more
Home Carers £157 more
School Secretaries £140 more

Let The Battle Commence!

So it's that time of year again Local Elections are on the horizon.
Looking right across Tameside, it looks like there will be some interesting battles.

Ashton Hurst: Richard Ambler will be defending his seat for the first time, and if he wins? will be the first time the Tories will have successfully defended a seat in Ashton since the 70's.
This year it's a battle between Conservatives Labour and UKIP.
No Lib Dums, No BNP and No Greens.
Early indications are things are looking good, we've had some really good feedback and are confident on keeping the seat.

Ashton StMichaels: Paul Buckley is our candidate, we are chasing a 200+ Labour majority but again things are looking good, the feedback has been great.
I'm quietly confident with this ward, we are currently delivering about 4000 leaflets.
I have a feeling CLLR Sidebottom might be looking over her shoulder.

Hyde Werneth: CLLR Derek Baines is the Conservative candidate.
Derek is one of the most popular CLLR's on Tameside council, and a complete gentleman.

I can't see Derek having a problem here, but the Labour candidate has been vocal, sorry people have been vocal on her behalf, from fake letters to James Purnel endorsed leaflets asking for NI details.

Thankfully people in Werneth are seeing through this, by the Labour Party as incompetence.

Audenshaw: This ward is unbelievable, for the first time well as long as i can remember that the standing party the Lib Dums are not even defending the seat.

Now the out going CLLR Karen Wright, who i believe has joined the very same people who crucified her in Council last year, over none payment of Council Tax is taking a breather.

The Conservative candidate is Stacey Knighton, Stacey is a breath of fresh air to the party.

If elected? she will be a great addition to the Council, and will bring something new to the table.

The Labour Party will be confident of taking this last seat, as they've won the past two elections, but the feedback has been great.

In every ward I've worked in, nearly everyone is complaining about the weekly rubbish collections.

This could be the turning point for Stacey, along with the congestion charge.

Staly/Duk: Dorothy Cartwright is our candidate.

Dorothy is a lovely lady who will be a great CLLR, and she has quite a CV.

She has a real chance, and i think Labour will be a little concerned that they may lose this seat. with the national swing being 14% in the Tories favour, and only a 150-200 majority this is most definite winnable.

Dukinfield: Is a battle mostly between Labour and the BNP.

How I'm glad i don't live in that ward.

If you read local blogs? then the parties have a tit for tat argument all year round.

Which is a little dull to say the least.

In a nutshell it's squeaky bum time, for a lot of people in Tameside.

Hopefully people will behave themselves? without turning to a dirty tricks campaign i.e the disgraceful behaviour of Alan Whitehead in Ashton Hurst last year.

I hope people of all Parties, share the same reason why they get into politics as i do.

Serving the community, and not for a easy ride on the Gravy Train, like unfortunately some serving Councillors i could but won't mention.

Earlier this week Boris was accused of ‘ducking’ a hustings for Time Out magazine which he had never agreed to attend, by Ken and his lapdogs at the Guardian newspaper.
Turns out that Ken is being hypocritical (AGAIN!) as he has withdrawn from the Centre for Social Justice hustings aimed at the voluntary sector.

In addition to this he has to refused to commit to the No2ID event which is being attended by other mayoral candidates.

This is typical of the Labour Party, where ever you live the contempt they hold for the voter is astonishing.
But they will expect you to vote for them at the elections, all talk and no substance.
On May 1st where ever you are vote for change, vote Conservative.

Gwynne+ Heyes+ Purnell=NIMBY'S

It has come to my attention that Andrew"two Dogs"Gwynne, David Heyes and James Purnell didn't like Conservative leader of the opposition John Bell's response to their votes in Parliament going against a Conservative Bill, of suspending the motion to close 2500 post offices nationwide.

Now as my mind casts back a couple of years, i attended the Public meeting at Ashton Town Hall over the closure of the Post Office in Ashton.

David Heyes was there expressing his "outrage" at the closure, and he was doing "everything he could"

As we know the Post Office closed, and it's now situated in WH Smith which if anyone has had the mis-pleasure to use this will know to book a couple of days off work to get served.

Andrew Gwynne who's a MP and a CLLR, which means he gets paid to do the same job twice.
He was championing himself as the saviour of Denton Post Office, which as an elected person can quite rightly pat himself on the back for getting behind this campaign
Which I'm sure you will read it in his next election leaflet, as the Tameside Labour party have a policy of self gratification.

So you would think these people would morally and whole heartedly against these closures? because they feel so strong for communities up and down this country, and they would vote with the Conservatives, like 19 of of their colleagues did?

But no they voted with the Government, to carry on with the closures, despicable and morally corrupt people may say?

But i disagree with this, i just think they sum up the Labour Party as it is now, a Party who has run out of idea's, and will say anything to get elected, but when it comes to the crunch will go against what they campaigned for (As long as it's not in their backyard).

It's also interesting to know, that the same people voted against a referendum of the European Constitution, but they all promised at the last General Election that everyone would have the opportunity to have one.(Only the Conservatives have voted for, and stuck by their election pledge)

Not forgetting the "Photo Shop Kid" James Purnell, a man who will befriend anyone as long as it advances his career, just ask the last Prime Minister.
Mr Purnell goes on about CLLR Bell, saying it's just a Pre-election ramble.
This is a bit rich to come from a man who's only Hyde and Stalybridge MP when it suits him. Who's office has had quite a bit of scandal in the past 12 months, from Fake Photo's, Fake letters, and asks residents for National Insurance numbers on their feedback forms.

How can anyone trust these people to represent the general public?
It's the same attitude which runs through the Tameside Labour Party they will say anything at election time, but after they've been elected go against their pledges.

Last night Gordon Brown hit a further nail in to democracy, by killing off your democratic right for a referendum on the EU constitution.
This is the same referendum his party, the Labour Party promised you, the voter the right at the last general election.
Mr Brown broke Labour's 2005 general election pledge, as he ordered his puppets to reject a referendum.
However 29 of his MP's rebelled, and grew a set of testicles and stuck with their election pledge unfortunately our local MP's James Purnell, David Hayes and Andrew Gwynne chose to side with the Stalinist dictator Gordon and go against their pledge.
The PM insisted there is no need for a national vote, because the treaty is NOT the same as the constitution.
But even pro EU Tory Ken Clarke admitted the documents are the same.
He told Foreign Secretary David Miliband "Will you stop all this nonsense about it being different from the constitution because it's plainly the same in substance"
This in a nutshell, spells the end to Britain's right to set it's own laws in countless areas, and the EU will be able to push through laws without the unanimous agreement of all 27 member states.
Polls show 88 per cent of voters wanted a referendum.
The EU will also get powers to define criminal offences, and set minimum sentences in the UK. also British firms will have to accept costly employment laws.
The real reason behind this is not for the good of the country, but through utter contempt of the voter and cowardice.
Mr Brown was scared he would lose this.
But this should be no surprise to people, because when Gordon Brown thinks he might lose something, i.e the General Election he was going to call before he realised he might get beat.
It's OK for people like Gordon Brown, and locally Tameside Council leader Roy Oldham, to talk about the importance of democracy, but democracy is only really real when you have something that you might lose, not when you expect to have a white wash.
This marks a new low for the Labour Party and a low moment for Britain.
William Hague told MP's, that "voters will conclude that politicians are not to be trusted and parliament does not see itself as accountable"
Gordon Brown, and the Labour Party regards the voters, as idiots by pretending the opposite,
Regarding voters as idiots has become a motto for this government.
On crime and immigration as well as the EU, Labour arrogantly brush aside legitimate public anxieties.
Only the Conservatives emerged with dignity last night, by KEEPING TO THEIR WORD and trying to win a referendum.
Not to leave the ever so pointless Lib Dems alone they are a laughing stock, unsure whether to vote?, walk out?, or resign? firstly try picking out the splinters out of your backsides, then come back to the table.
What we have to look forward to is the EU unavailing a new President of the United States of Europe step forward President Blair ( yes you thought you got rid of him)
The Labour Party and Mr Brown deserves to be held to account for such a fundamental and far reaching breach of promise.

In 1997 the average wait for operations was 41 days.

But today the average waiting time is 49 days.

Doctors have expressed concerns that people with serious conditions are waiting longer.

After the vast amount of money wasted by Labour on the non essential tick box services in the NHS, it is once again proved that its obsession with ideology over service.

The spending of vast sums cannot guarantee a better health service for the country.

What this country needs is the return of Matrons who are responsible for the ward, less middle managers who are paid vasts amounts for ticking boxes and inventing the next quango to fool the general public.

The money we do have to spend should go into training people in this country and not importing people from over seas having regular nurses who are worked to an acceptable working week rather than running them into the ground.

Less agency staff, as the money spent over the course of a year could fund thousands of permanent Nurses.

Conservatives in the meantime have pledged to not only create in independent health service so that the focus is on delivery of care, but also to increase spending on the NHS on the key areas.

Prisons With A Purpose

With Britain's prisons suffering from overcrowding, David promised to build 5,000 additional prison places, taking capacity to over 100,000.

Amongst the other suggestions in 'Prisons with a purpose' are:- Minimum and maximum sentence periods, with no parole until the minimum term has been served.

An end to automatic release for all determinate sentences

The decentralisation of public sector prisons- Offenders to compensate their victims through a Victims' Fund David stressed we need "a new principle of honesty in sentencing, a new generation of prisons and a new model of prison management."

Gordon Brown has decided to Nationalise Northern Rock

The new Executive Chairman Ron Sandler said " There is no guarantee they will succeed"

Mr Sandler has been charged with finding a viable business plan for the lender and was speaking after meeting managers and staff.

He said that bank was well placed to recover from the problems that were started by a slump in the US housing market and led to a freezing up of global credit markets.
But, he cautioned that "nothing is guaranteed in this world".

"All possible solutions carry with them an element of risk," he added.
Mr Sandler explained that it would take years for the bank to pay back its loans from the taxpayer.

When asked about the loans he said: "It is clearly unrealistic to talk about months. We are clearly talking about a period of some years."

The Prime Minister Gordon Brown has been defending the government's decision to nationalise Northern Rock.

At a Downing Street briefing he called it "the right move at the right time for the right reasons".
The government's move has been fiercely criticised by shareholders who face losing almost all of their investment.

Shadow chancellor George Osborne said the nationalisation plans were "catastrophic," and that they would be opposed by the Conservatives.

Baroness Warsi has described the comments made by Archbishop Rowan Williams about Sharia law as "unhelpful", saying they would add to the confusion that already exists in our communities.

The Shadow Minister for Community Cohesion and Social Action explained the important principle was that of "equality", with people of all backgrounds and religions being treated equally before the law.

She said freedom under the law allows respect for some religious practices, but stressed: "Let's be absolutely clear - all British citizens must be subject to British laws developed through Parliament and the courts."

I agree with everything Baroness Warsi says, there must be equality right through the Legal system.

One thing they could start by doing is getting rid of "Positive Discrimination"

Weekly Bin Collections Axed By 155 Councils

New figures show that almost half of all councils have axed weekly rubbish collections.

The Government has been forced to admit that 155 English councils, representing 18 million people, have scrapped weekly bin collections - and in Northern Ireland, a staggering 90% of councils have scrapped them.

But not one of the councils who have done away with weekly collections has reduced council tax.

Labour Ministers have effectively given the green light to the end of weekly collections, by telling councils that cutting collections will help meet 'annual efficiency' targets.

Eric Pickles, the Shadow Secretary of State for Local Government, said we were witnessing the "slow death of weekly collections", and warned that it would lead to a rise in fly-tipping.

Tameside Hippodrome To Close???

Disturbing news came from Tameside Council, that our Theatre in Tameside could close due to LIVE NATION coming to the end of their contract.

What i would like to know is a couple of things

1, How long did Tameside Council know that Live Nation wasn't going to carry on with the contract?
2, How hard did they look to find an alternative management company?
3, Why didn't Tameside Council advertise in STAGE which is the leading Theatre Magazine
(other Councils have done this in the past and found buyers)
4, Are they going to continue to look for an alternative? or does the cost of renovating the Theatre out way the chance for future generations to go to an affordable Theatre?

The Arts and Youth Services have dwindled year on year under this Labour Council.
Every year the Budget gets smaller and smaller.

They complain about youth annoyance on our streets ,but sell nearly all our playing fields,
stop funding for Youth Groups across the Borough, and now our Theatre will close.

We have already lost The Theatre Royal in Hyde and The Cinema in Stalybridge and Ashton Town Centre.

You have let the people of Tameside down, AGAIN!!!!!!

My name is Gareth Quinn, and Iam Tameside's Conservative Future Chairman.
The idea for this site, is to let people know exactly what it takes to campaign in an Election.
Also to share my views on National and Local issues.

In Tameside at the moment, The Conservative Party has 8 CLLR'S.
The Labour Party has 45, as you can see the Democratic ballance isn't there.

What we are trying to do, is to get a better representation for people of Tameside,
on The Council.
For far too long The Labour Party has got their way in Tameside and after yet another Council Tax raise this time 5.3% is hitting families where it hurts in their pockets.

The Labour Party came into power under the phase "Things can only get better"
but i think they should re word this to "Things can only get dearer"

Over in Trafford, Council Tax went up by 2% which is a Conservative run Council.
Another example of people getting value for money.
We are not saying we can promise the Earth, as that would be a stupid pledge, what we are saying is that if you Vote Conservative, you will get value for your hard earned Money.
